Taxonomic Notes: Taxonomic status of populations in different river catchments needs to be examined. There is some morphological variation in what is currently recognised as L. molybdinus. Populations of a Labeo from the Rovuma River, northern Mozambique are considered seperately but may be apopulation of L. molybdinus.
