Only known from two localities in the Ruvu River drainage. Its restricted distribution and narrow habitat preferences makes it more vulnerable to local habitat degradation.

Habitat and Ecology [top]

Habitat and Ecology: Present in stretches with fast current but more numerous in the quieter stretches. It's preferred water conditions are 26.8°C and pH of 7.2 (Seegers 1995). Feeds mainly on algae and aufwuchs which is rasped from stones (Seegers 1995).
