Habitat and Ecology: Common over sand and mud substrates. Larger individuals found to depths of 20 m whereas the juveniles and sub adults are encountered in shallow water. Piscivore. Substrate spawner. Known as "Haplochromis Mbwanae" in the aquarium trade.
