Habitat and Ecology: An inshore rock associated species. Its breeding grounds are found in clear water along steep rocky shores. Breeding probably occurs all year round. Males defend their territories above large boulders protruding from the rocky bottom. Occasionally appears above rocky outcrops in shoals. Usually recorded in gill net catches.
