Justification:
Distributed in waters of up to 6 m deep with an extent of occurrence <20,000 km², less than 10 known locations, and a declining population due to both habitat loss and predation by the introduced Nile Perch Lates niloticus.

| Range Description: |
Distributed in Uganda as well as Tanzania. In Lake Victoria Seehausen (1996) reported five locations in the southern part of the Lake, namely the southern Shore of Bwiru Peninsula, and others within the Central Mwanza Gulf. Hence it is widely distributed but in fewer than 10 locations.

One sub-population has been found within sand-rock interface and another population as a rock dweller, found in crevices between steep rocks. Observed in waters up to 6 m. This species is an insectivore.
