[top]
| Habitat and Ecology: |
Typical annual fish, inhabiting temporary bodies of water (Wildekamp and Haas 1992). Diet mainly consists of small planktonic crustaceans (Copepoda) and nauplii and less frequently also of larvae of mosquitoes (Culicines, Anophelines) (Wildekamp and Haas 1992). Eggs are deposited in the bottom substrate where they survive the dry season with diapauses of variable length (Wildekamp and Haas 1992).
