| Range Description: |
Widely distributed in temporary pools, floodplains and swamps in the Lake Victoria drainage, Lake Kyoga and Aswa River drainages in southern Uganda, and the Malagarasi and Bubu River drainages in central Tanzania. It has been introduced to several localities in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania for mosquito control (Wildekamp et al. 1986).
