Justification: This species is endemic to the Lake Victoria drainage from where it was last recorded in 1997. It is thought that the species may have become extinct following intense predation by the Nile Perch (Lates niloticus), increased eutrophication of the lake, and possibly through overfishing. More surveys on a lake-wide scale are required to evaluate the "Possibly Extinct" status. |
